Who said that the output of an algorithm should necessarily be complex and intricate? The Needle Watch explores the possibilities given by the algorithmic-modeling in the field of product design, reaching a sophisticated minimalism which is usually the outcome of a traditional design approach. Inspired by 70’s -watches style, the algorithm manages a set of constraints mostly related to design-proportions and generates the main parts of the watch: case, grooved bezel, winding crown, bracelet. In particular, the seamless crown-guard details is totally created as an algorithmic output.

Needle is a concept for a dress-watch with GMT function (the red hand tracks a secondĀ times zone). It will feature a Swiss mechanical caliber embedded in a 3D printed case (steel or titanium) which is finished by hand to provide a balance between satin and polished parts, typical of high-end timepieces.
The watch features a 42mm case with integrated bracelet, sapphire glass with antireflex treatment.
